Bug Fix: Notifications Fixed by: Admin

Just a quick note to let you know that a bug that prevented the delivery of notifications has now been fixed. Thank you very much to the users who reported it to us. This appears to have been caused by a recent infrastructure change made during the last update where we added prices to notifications for items. As usual, if you suspect that something isn't working as it should, please let us know. Confirmed bugs make a user eligible for a free premium subscription :).

New Feature: Notifications Changed by: Admin

Hi All,

As a result of user feedback, we've changed both text and email notifications of price updates to show more price information. Text messages now show the difference in price between the old price and new price (also displayed as a percentage) as well as the new price. Email messages will show this same information, with the addition of including the old price as well. This is due to character limits, we don't want notifications to send as a 2-part text message.

New Feature: ItemFinder Released by: Admin

Happy Holidays, everyone!

We're pleased to announce that we're ringing in the new year by releasing a feature that's been alluded to frequently: ItemFinder. The premise is quite simple, we want merchants to be able to share the items that they're merchanting and for other merchants to be able to make sense of all the data more effectively. What we've produced is an interactive table that functions much like an extended version of the "Hot Items" chart on the home page. Users can search through items in our database (in ascending or descending order) according to various data points, including: time since last reversal, time since last update, price, etc. Multiple column sorts are supported thanks to the use of the jQuery toolbox.

In other news: We've fixed some of the tooltips on the Premium feature comparison chart, one of the jQuery libraries somehow got deleted, it's been restored. Hovering over a feature (once again) provides a description.

Other: Hardware Failure by: Admin

Hi All,
We hope you're enjoying the start of your weekend, and for many others, the start of the holiday season. Unfortunately, over Thanksgiving here in the US one of our servers managed to burn out a video card. As a result and a precaution, the motherboard powered off. Due to the holiday, it was difficult to get the issue resolved as quickly as we would have liked. We were able to work with our data center technicians this afternoon to get a new video card installed and all services have been restored to fully functional. We apologize for the inconvenience.

As a reminder: Though website outages are extremely rare, we are able to communicate status updates regarding their resolution most effectively via Twitter (if access to mail servers is down). Bug Fix: Updates and Custom Item Tracking by: Admin

Just wanted to drop a quick note to let everyone know that we have ported GEUpdate over to be capable with Runescape's new Grand Exchange code. Some things were broken in the process, including (albeit briefly) update detection and adding custom items. These have now both been restored to functional. Stay tuned for a new feature coming very, very soon ;).

Bug Fix: Premium Signup Bug by: Admin

Thanks to those of you that reported it, it seems that a website update earlier in the week caused premium to not function quite as intended where a logout was required to update premium status. This has since been fixed, and premium status is, once again, immediately accessible (You should click the Return to Merchant) button on PayPal, however :).

Bug Fix: UpdateScan Fixed by: Admin

Hope you're all enjoying your summer. It seems that due to a recent change in FireFox (as well as some other web browsers), UpdateScan was crashing QuickTime, which was used to play the embedded update sound. We've since patched the code and things are working as expected. We apologize for the problem and thanks go out to those of you who reported to it as quickly as you did!

New Feature: Hot Merchanting Items! by: Admin

Over the past few weeks you may have noticed that a new box has appeared on the sidebar of GEUpdate.com. Well, after a bit of embarrassment that it got uploaded a little before it was meant too and wasn't functioning as intended, it's finally ready! We're pleased to announce the release of an addition website feature: hot merchanting items. The items that appear in this sidebar are a snapshot of some of the current items being tracked by GEUpdate Premium users which have strong merchanting potential. For more on this feature, please read the FAQ available here! We're still making a few changes to how the script chooses the items in order to maximize its usefulness.
If you have any feedback, please let us know :). This addition will be the basis of a number of website additions coming shortly -- as always, more will be said on the subject as that time draws nearer.

Bug Fux: TrendTracker Fix by: Admin

Thanks to those of you whom quickly reported (as of moments ago) that a bug was preventing some TrendTracker notifications from being sent. This has been quickly traced to an out of sync scanning server which was running an outdated compiled version of TrendTracker. This has been fixed and all is working as intended! Please accept our apologies :).

Greetings all!

I know it's been a while and things have been rather silent, but it's for good reason...We've been hard at work behind the scenes compiling the newest addition to GEUpdate's merchanting toolbox: TrendTracker.

While the full description can be found HERE, the concept is rather simple: we wanted to create a tool to tell you when prices of the items you're merchanting switches directions. Why? Well, mostly because Runescape's economy is about as far from laissez faire (read: hands off) as it gets. In fact, many market models and psychological models can be applied to explain price trends. For example: when an item begins to increase in price, people begin to pile on (bandwagon effect) and buy the item in hopes of amking money. Conversely, when an item begins to decline, people tend to dump it in droves. The consequences of this are rather profound: a ton of money can be made buying and selling at these points (buying on the way down, selling on the way up). Incidentally, TrendTracker tells you when these shifts have arrived!

Because this feature is an addition to our existing Custom Item Tracking feature, we've gone ahead and revamped our Custom Item Tracking guide, which can be found HERE to help you set it up.

However, due to the technology required to support this feature...you will need to be a premium member to use TrendTracker (and Custom Item Tracking). As a final note: while this script has undergone a closed beta test over the past few weeks, this is the first time it has seen public release. Consequently, we're still working out the few remaining bugs. If you notice something odd, please shoot us a Contact Us form so we can get things working :).
